Investment protection treaties with Egypt and Burkina Faso signed

With the exchange of instruments of ratification at the Foreign Office in November connect new investment treaties with Egypt and Burkina Faso in force. The aim of the treaties is to strengthen economic relations and to secure direct investment in international law.

New investment protection treaty with Egypt

Between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Arab Republic of Egypt takes on 22 November 2009, a new investment promotion and protection treaty (IFV) in force.

The agreement replaces the previous IFV of 5 July 1974. The aim of the Treaty is to strengthen economic relations through the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments and to secure direct investment in international law. The new agreement enhances the legal protection for investors of both countries and open them now including its own access to an international arbitration tribunal.
